A bevel gear is a type of gear used to transmit
motion and power between two shafts whose axes make an angle with each other, usually
90° (right angles) or other angle. The tooth surfaces of bevel gears are conical in
shape, which allows smooth transmission of motion at a point where the axes intersect.
Advantages of Use
- Motion Guidance: It can guide the movement
between two shafts at different angles.
- Silent Operation: Especially helical and
hypoid types work quieter and smoother.
- High Efficiency: It minimises energy losses
and allows high torque transmission.
